NAME:

EnviroStain - Binder for Dipping Stains

DESCRIPTION:

ELBDS is a binder in our EnviroStain system. All of the EnviroStain Binders are concentrates that are intended to be mixed with water prior to use. This binder is the primary resin for dip stain applications.

ELBDS dries medium-slow and helps prevent blotches and puddling of the stain. It also helps control colour penetration into the wood, thereby maintaining uniform colour and transparency.

USES:

This product is designed for interior wood finishing applications and is especially suited for complex shapes such as assembled chairs, small parts or intricate profiles.

SANDING:

Substrate should be sanded with 180 grit sandpaper prior to applying any stains. Finer grit sandpaper (240/280) can be used to minimize sanding scratches.

PRODUCT PREPARATION:

Start with 10-15% ELBDS Dipping Stain Binder, add up to 10% ELTINT Micronized Pigment, up to 5% ELDYE Dye Concentrate can also be added to the pre mixed Binders to increase vibrancy. Add water to bring the total mix balance to 100%. Any leftover stain will require using preserving additives prior to prolonged storage.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION:

Dip stains are very efficient in medium-large production settings with complex three dimensional products such as chairs and other furniture. A quantity of material is poured into a suitably sized vessel then the piece to be finished is “dipped” into the stain and removed to drip dry while it blends in, no wiping is required. Dip stains can also be poured over a piece depending on the geometry of your dip tank. Please contact your Envirolak Technical Sales representative for guidance.

After application this product needs to be wiped off using a clean, dry rag or sponge to ensure adhesion and correct colour appearance.

If the stain is left on too long and begins to dry, wiping off with a dry rag can result in lap lines. To minimize lap lines re-wet the area with more stain on a partially wet rag and wipe off using the same rag.
