NAME:

DRY GLAZE BASE - NEUTRAL

DESCRIPTION:

ELDGB100 is a water based dry glaze used for highlighting profile, deep grain or distress marks in a finish system. A wide variety of ‘looks’ are achievable dpending on how this product is used. Dry glaze may also be referred to as “breakaway glaze” or “pickling dust”.

USES:

This product is designed as an accent colour for interior wood finishing systems and should be used in conjunction with other Envirolak products to achieve special looks.

PRODUCT PREPARATION:

This product should be lightly tinted to the desired accent colour and used as supplied.

SANDING:

Depending on the desired final appearance, the basecoat may or may not need sanding prior to application of dry glaze. Dry glaze will accentuate sanding scratches. If applied direct to wood, the substrate should be sanded.

Air Pressure: 15-25 PSI
Tips: 04, 06 or 09
Wet Film Build: 2-4 mils

This product can also readily be applied by Cup Gun or even an Air Brush.

After application this product needs to be partially removed prior to topcoat. Use Scotch Brite, sandpaper or a damp rag depending on the desired final appearance.

Air dry:

Dry to Touch: 20 Minutes
Ready to Scuff: 30-60 Minutes

Note: Gentle air movement (recirculator or fan) while parts are drying will reduce dry to sand times by 20-40%

Conventional Oven:

(40-45°C/104-113°F)

Dry to Touch: 10 Minutes
Ready to Scuff: 15-25 Minutes

SUITABLE TINTS:

ELDGB100 should be tinted with Envirolak 896- line pigments.

Note that using more than 5% pigment will result in a difficult to remove glaze. For white or off-white colours use WBWD100 White Dispersion in combination with 896- Line tinters.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Use stainless steel (304/316) equipment for all water based products. When switching between solvent and water based products in the same spray equipment we suggest the following:

  • From Solvent to Water: Wash with acetone, then wash with water.
  • From Water to Solvent: Wash with water, then wash with acetone.

Keep containers closed when not in use and wash all equipment well. Keep from freezing.

SHELF LIFE:

12 months in unopened containers

STORAGE

Store in a tightly closed container at room temperature (18-25°C/64-75°F) and protect from direct sunlight and foreign material. Do not store at temperatures below 5°C/41°F.
